Tyler advises Indigenous communities in treaty implementation, governance, and economic development. His practice focuses primarily on legal issues surrounding Indigenous involvement in fisheries, aquaculture, water, and mining. He is particularly passionate about supporting Indigenous communities to achieve economic prosperity within the framework of environmental conservation. Tyler also engages in litigation work including on specific claims files.
Prior to joining Ratcliff as an articling student in 2021, Tyler attended law school at the University of Victoria. While there he engaged in numerous extracurricular pursuits including the international Jessup Moot and as a representative in the Environmental Law Club.
Tyler formerly worked as a co-op student in the legal department of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, and Investment for the Government of the Northwest Territories and as a legal researcher for the Cullen Commission. He also worked as a wildlands firefighter in Alberta.
Originally from the northwest of BC, Tyler enjoys being outdoors as much as possible – foraging, kayaking, skiing, hiking or fishing up and down the west coast.
